Eagle Rock
The small
community of Eagle Rock has been a hidden secret for the Angeleno
community for years. Its stately "Eagle Rock" landmark boulder
can be viewed from the 134 Ventura Freeway. The tightly woven
community of Mount Washington, urban Highland Park, and the bustling
communities of Glendale and Pasadena surround Eagle Rock. It has
become a convenient alternative to the more popular communities
of Los Feliz and Silverlake, for people who are looking for affordability,
architectural integrity, yet a sense of community charm.
East of
Colorado Blvd, are beautiful, eclectic homes, which feature architecture
varying from Spanish, to Craftsman, to Traditional, as well as
Modern. The community amenities feature a public library, a convenient
park, with full recreational facilities, including tennis courts,
as well as community events held throughout the year. One such
event took place earlier this year. The Eclectic Eagle Rock Home
Tour took place just this past May. A stroll through the Hill
Drive area was enthusiastically received. The styles in houses
ranged from a Hilltop Castle, to Mexican Rancho, to Spanish Colonial
Revival.
The thoroughfares
of Colorado Blvd, and Eagle Rock Blvd have slowly been booming
with small businesses that cater to the specific needs of the
community. The range of restaurants includes fine dining, to "mom
& pop" eateries, which have been popping up along both these streets.
The new owners of the Westridge Eagle Rock mall, which includes
a multiplex movie theatre, have updated the look and feel of this
small community shopping mall for everyone’s enjoyment. With its
central location, just minutes from Old Town Pasadena, and the
Rose Bowl recreational area, this area has become a natural for
residents who are partial to the quaint charm of Eagle Rock.
